1950 – 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce that Professor Tony Blunden, our friend, and colleague has passed away after a short illness.
It has been our privilege to know him and work with him for the last 20+ years.
He was a very special person, kind, generous, a genuine expert within his field, and always ready to help anyone and share his knowledge.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A dear friend, and wonderful colleague.
A true gentleman. May he rest in peace
Tony was inspirational to so many operational risk practitioners. I worked with Tony at Jefferies and ED&F Man on a number of regulatory remediation projects. Tony was passionate about risk management, and had a real sense of making risk management practical, simple and value add. I learnt so much from Tony and many of my friends and colleagues have too. He really did go far and beyond the project scope and his real drive was educating others. Risk management has lost a true legend in the field. Thank you Tony for all you taught me and all you did for Risk Management.
My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. I am so saddened by this news. Tony was an amazing mentor when I worked with him for 3 years and his passion for risk management rubbed on me and influenced my whole career to this day. I will greatly miss him and never forget him. Thank you Tony!
A dear friend, great mentor to many and so passionate about Risk.
Tony thank you
RIP
I worked with Tony many years ago in an operational risk start-up (operationalrisk.com). He was passionate about operational risk and a true gentleman. He will be missed.
My deepest sympathies to his family. He was one of the nicest people I worked with. May he rest in piece.
A lovely person and expert in his field always considering new ideas. He will be missed
Tony I was lucky enough to work for you for the first 7 years of my career where you taught me everything I know about risk. I am always grateful to you for this and will miss you greatly.
I have such fond memories of every time I met him and his passion for operational risk. He was such a lovely man. My thoughts are with his family. RIP
I worked with Tony at EY in the late 90s. We were both Directors in the newly formed Risk Consulting Practice in London. Many years later, I worked with him again at RiskLogix. Significant domain knowledge combined with the ability to communicate and teach. Several years later my daughter worked with him as an intern and junior analyst and attended his operational risk course. He was as helpful and generous with his time/knowledge with young developing talent as he was with experienced professionals. A gentleman, coach and mentor.
Deepest sympathies to family, friends and colleagues.
RIP Tony.
I am blessed to have known Tony even for a short period of time, I will always keep in my heart our nice conversations and laughs, my next honey cake will be for you! I am sending all my thoughts and friendship to his family, friends and colleague. The humanity has lost a wonderful and sweet man.
Tony was a real pioneer in risk management. He had a rare ability to simplify and distill complex concepts and topics. His thought leadership mixed with a jovial nature will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences to his family and colleagues.
Shocked and saddened. Worked with Tony for ten years. Always the gentleman and generous in so many ways.

I am shocked to hear that Tony has passed away having spoken with within the last few weeks. He was much respected for what he knew but it was his kindly and helpful manner that made Tony stand out. Very sad.news.
It’s with great sadness reading of Tony’s passing. My sincere condolences to his family and all at Chase Cooper. I had the great privilege of working around this kind warm hearted man when I tempted at Chase Cooper as office manager & credit controller. RIP
Tony was a great risk professional and a sincere and friendly person. I always enjoyed interacting with him when we met as I covered RiskLogix and Chase Cooper in the market. I will miss those interactions.
I am so very sad to hear of Tony’s passing. He was such a lovely man and so deeply knowledgeable about risk management. He had a real knack for taking a complex topic and explaining it simply so that understanding was easy. I know the risk management profession will feel his absence.
A kind and generous man. Lovely to know and a privilege to have worked with. RIP Tony.
I am so terribly sad and sorry to hear of Tony’s passing. We started working on Operational Risk together back in the 90’s at Credit Suisse Financial Products. We went on to meet many times over the years to share stories and opportunities. A very kind and generous man who will be missed terribly. My condolences to his family and many friends and colleagues. RIP Tony.
A great mentor and colleague. He was one of the kindest people I ever met.
RIP
I remember when I first met Tony at the Graduate Recruitment Evening – He was encouraging and approachable even with his seniority, and that impression lasted the 10 years of my time working with him. Tony taught me in abundance about Risk, and he was generous with his time and deep domain knowledge – always ready to teach, to share, to support. Thank you Tony. RIP.
Tony was my first ever manager of my professional career. Although I only worked with him for just under 2 years, any success I have in my career I owe to Tony. He didn’t just teach me Risk Management but armed me with the skills and tools to be successful in my career. I use all these skills today and even reference Tony’s teachings and wisdom to my grads and juniors. Tony wasn’t just a manager but a father figure to me. Rest in peace Tony.
Got opportunity to work with Tony at Risklogix, His Vision, clarity of thought and domain expertise was inspirational .
A great loss to Risk Management community.
My deepest condolence May his soul rest in peace
Was taught by Tony at Glasgow Caledonian and at a chase cooper operational risk course in London a few years later. Lovely guy who always had time for you. Rip Tony.
From all the team at ii, our condolences to Tony’s family and the team at Risk Logix
Although we met a long time ago, I remember Tony very well as both a thinker and a doer. He was well ahead of the curve in the operational risk domain and adept at translating that insight into decisions. Rest in peace, Tony!
We are strangers to the world of risk management here at Appletree Lane. But one thing we do know is that Tony B was a delightful man, a gentle gentleman.
I was so sad when I heard the news. I owe him a great deal. Tony was there at the start of my own learning about risk, and when we later wrote risk exam questions together and his passion for his subject was always clear. He was a great teacher, an excellent conference speaker and always kind and respectful of everyone. You will be greatly missed, Tony.
Deeply saddened by this news, my heartfelt condolences to your loved ones.
Tony sir you were such a kind, generous and a very down to earth man, your knowledge base and passion for risk and operational risk was commendable.
Thank you for all your teachings Tony sir.
RIP
